BelVia: Jon Paine Rows Across the Atlantic

Donate to Jon's Cause

As part of the Woodvale Challenge, Jon Paine '94 is making a world record attempt to row across the Atlantic.  He will row 2550 miles, from Puerto de Mogan in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean.

As he sets out on this adventure, Jon hopes to fundraise in support of some wonderful organizations.  His ultimate goal is $5100 - two dollars for each mile rowed. Half of the proceeds will go to augment travel expenses until they are covered (estimated at $1500).  The rest of the funds will be directed toward the following causes, written about here by Jon:
  • Alzheimer's Research - My dad is currently afflicted with Alzheimer's, but doing great - there is a cure!
  • Bayfield Recreation Center - In honor of the BayField Rec Center's Director, Scott Armstrong - former Dartmouth Heavyweight Championship Coach.  For all of the help and guidance he gave, in developing the spirit of rowing - without which I would not be attempting this cross-Atlantic row.
  • Dartmouth Rowing - To help susbsidize student rowers' spring break expenses.  I benefitted many years ago and would like to return the favor.

All payments will be processed through PayPal via the Friends of Dartmouth Rowing group and dispersed accordingly. E-Mail FODR1769@gmail.com with questions.
